MORE WAYS TO IMPROVE CONCRETE WITH TIRE WASTE

Waste tire rubber can replace the coarse rocky material making up the bulk of concrete, using up some of the about a billion scrap tires produced annually. Reducing the need for natural materials like rocks that are mined will also lower costs. A wet mixture of sand, gravel, and waste rubber is put in molds and compressed to remove all the pores in the drying concrete. The resultant strong concrete is lightweight, reducing the transportation cost, and as a precast concrete member, decreasing construction time and saving labor costs.
