Thwaites in Antarctica, one of the world’s largest glaciers, is about to splinter apart. The size of Britain, its collapse could set off a sort of domino effect across the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, which holds enough ice to raise the global sea level by anywhere from 13 to 16 feet. Alone it could raise sea levels by about two feet.
