THE PUBLIC HAS A PROBLEM

In a poll about 90% of Republicans said they have neutral or positive feelings toward America’s two biggest fossil fuel companies, Shell and Exxon. About half of Democrats agreed. A majority of Americans don’t think oil and gas companies participated in climate change disinformation even though the fact is that they did. Exxon, for example, was aware of climate change, as early as 1977, 11 years before it became a public issue, yet it spent decades refusing to publicly acknowledge climate change and promoted climate misinformation. The rest of the information in this survey is also depressing. There is an urgent need to bring truth to the public.
