The First Massachusetts Circuit Court has vacated the Air Quality Permit for the Weymouth compressor. Our Department of Environmental Protection didn’t follow its own protocol. It was supposed to be sure Enbridge looked into using an electric turbine – not the gas one Enbridge is currently placing in the compressor. An electric turbine would substantially cut down air pollution and more. Although it would be difficult to put in an electric turbine due to the vastly undersized parcel of land, studying this adequately is required.
