WATER WARS COMING

Climate change is putting enormous strains on global water resources, and the Tibetan Plateau is suffering from a water imbalance so extreme that it could lead to an increase in international conflicts. The Plateau and neighboring Himalayas are home to the largest global store of frozen water outside the North and South Polar Regions. This region functions as a complex water distribution system delivering water to multiple countries (parts of China, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan), Due to rapid snow and upstream glacier melting, the area can’t sustainably support the continued rapid growth of the developing nations relying on it.
