SOIL SEQUESTRATION

Carbon stocks buried deep underground are vulnerable to climate change with implications for mitigating global warming through the natural carbon sinks provided by soil and forests which capture 25% of all carbon emissions. Those from deforestation and agriculture account for around a fifth of global greenhouse gases. For soil to sustain carbon sequestration, we will need better soil management practices, which can mean minimal disturbance of soils during forest management and agriculture.
