On April 6th dozens of scientists were arrested worldwide as they mobilized to let the world know that the ecological crisis is accelerating, and only a “climate revolution” will be enough to avert catastrophe. More than 1000 chained themselves to the doors of oil-friendly banks, blocked bridges, and occupied government building steps. They warned that the recent IPCC report’s language was watered down at the behest of governments unwilling to rapidly phase out fossil fuels. The action in LA was part of an international campaign organized by scientists called Scientist Rebellion, involving more than 1,200 in 26 countries and supported by local climate groups. Notably, our major news sources did not cover this action, or even anything like enough of the IPCC report’s dire warnings.
