REPREHENSIBLE RESOURCE

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s “Natural gas and the environment” page, “Natural gas is a relatively clean burning fossil fuel.” That’s relative to coal and oil and, this webpage adds, “The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that in 2019, methane emissions from natural gas and petroleum systems and from abandoned oil and natural gas wells were the source of about 29% of total U.S. methane emissions and about 3% of total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions.” It acknowledges earthquakes from fracking, methane leaks into the atmosphere, and massive use of water, among other problems, but downplays them. An “Energy Kids” page called  “Natural Gas Basics” paints a benign picture, even if finally acknowledging some issues. UNACCEPTABLE!
