MANAGING MANGROVES

Mangroves are among the most effective natural carbon stores, but their ability to lock away carbon could weaken as sea levels rise. Rising levels may initially increase carbon accumulation in some places. But as conditions continue to change, the broader forest could lose its carbon storage ability.
