If Biden immediately invokes the Defense Production Act to get American manufacturers to start producing electric heat pumps in quantity, we can ship them to Europe for installation in time to dramatically lessen Putin’s power. Recent estimates indicate the existing European electric grid could handle fifty million heat pumps allowing them to heat their homes with electricity instead of gas and helping with the climate crisis at the same time.
