A huge section of Greenland’s Petermann Glacier has snapped off, forming an ice island about Manhattan’s size. It’s the glacier’s biggest calving event since 2012 and two even larger pieces could eventually follow. There are possible threats to shipping infrastructure, and sea level rise.
