GOING, GOING, GONE

Climate change could lead to irreversible sea level rise as temperatures continue to rise and the Greenland ice sheet continues to decline. Under current projections Greenland’s ice sheet will pass a threshold beyond which it will never fully regrow and sea levels will be permanently higher. At current rates of melting, it contributes almost 1mm to sea level per year, accounting for around a quarter of the total rise.
