Delta is committing $1bn to mitigate all its greenhouse gas emissions over the next 10 years. BP plans to reduce its carbon footprint to net zero by 2050. With luck these pledges will motivate other companies since airline emissions of carbon dioxide are expected to triple by 2050. Whether or not the plans are realistic, they’re a step in the right direction.
