Replacing any age gasoline car—even brand-new and even a hybrid–with an electric vehicle will almost always lower overall carbon emissions. Switching to an EV will become even better in the coming years, as electric grids decarbonize and battery recycling technology improves, decreasing manufacturing emissions associated with EVs.
