The Administration is rolling back regulations that compel auto companies to produce more fuel-efficient vehicles. Public health experts say air pollution from vehicles is likely to increase mortality from COVID-19, and these changes will reduce air quality. They will allow the emission of about a billion more tons of carbon dioxide – equivalent to roughly a fifth of annual US emissions.
