With companies shifting fossil energy use to wood as a substitute for shifting to solar and wind, which would truly decrease warming, over 500 scientists have demanded a stop to tree burning that increases warming. It also threatens forests’ biodiversity and efforts to stem the planet’s ecological emergency. Whether or not the scientists’ stand will make a difference remains to be seen.
