More than 40% of insect species are declining at a a precipitous rate of 2.5% a year, meaning possible extinction within a century. They’re a critical source of food for other creatures, pollinators and recyclers of nutrients. Check below to find out why this is happening including climate change.
There are things you can do at home:
Don’t mow your garden frequently; let nature grow and feed insects.
Plant native species; many insects require them.
Avoid pesticides–go organic.
Leave old trees, stumps and dead leaves, cutting small horizontal holes to provide insect nests.
