A glacier on Antarctica’s Eastern Peninsula experienced the fastest retreat recorded in modern history—in just two months, nearly 50% of it disintegrated. Caused by warming conditions and ocean-driven instability, it retreated 15 miles. It will be a serious problem for sea level rise if larger glaciers follow suit.
