Enbridge will begin commissioning the compressor station starting today and presumably keep on all week.
The Massachusetts 1st Circuit Court had rescinded the vacatur of the Air Quality permit in effect giving the permit back to Enbridge. The Court mistakenly assumed Enbridge wouldn’t begin commissioning until the remand process (appeal) was complete in January, 2021. Only the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the MA Department of Environmental Protection, Governor Baker, or Attorney General Healey can stop them from operating.
This means they’ll be doing blow downs of the system, releasing 675,000 standard cubic feet of gas and toxic, volatile organic compounds like benzene. For information about what you can do go to: nocompressor.com.
