TROUBLE WITH SPECIES TURNOVER

With global warming, many expected ecosystems to change faster and faster. Instead, species turnover has slowed by about one-third since the 1970s. Nature’s constant reshuffling appears driven more by internal ecological dynamics than by climate alone. This unexpected deceleration could be a warning that biodiversity loss is quietly stalling nature’s self-renewing machinery.
