
Roughly Florida in size, Antarctica’s Thwaites Glacier currently accounts for about 4 percent of global sea level rise, holding enough ice to raise the world ocean a little over 2 feet. It backstops neighboring glaciers able to add another 8 feet if all the ice were lost and putting many coastal cities underwater.
