All the way back in 2015 Tampa, a city at the highest risk for hurricanes in the U.S., was at the bottom of a list of six major cities studied, with little or no planning for the shifting risks due to climate change. Florida’s political representatives were largely unconcerned about it. There has been some improvement, but not enough. Florida’s Governor DeSantis recently said he sees the climate discussion as ideologically driven by “left-wing stuff”. Senator Scott barred the use of the term “climate change” by the state while he was governor. Florida is in trouble.
