Thermoplastic resin, a new material used for wind turbine blades can be recycled and make renewable energy more sustainable. Blades made of it can be longer, lighter-weight, and lower-cost. Thermoplastic material absorbs more energy from loads on the blades due to the wind, reducing wear and tear from these loads to the rest of the turbine system. It could also allow manufacturers to build blades on site. As blade sizes grow, so does the problem of how to transport them from a manufacturing facility.
