PROTECTING YOUR PET FROM CLIMATE CHANGE

Risks for pets:

Extreme heat: Even a short walk on hot pavement can burn paw pads. Cars quickly become lethal in warm weather.

Extreme weather: Keep supplies ready (food, medications, documents), keep ID tags current, know which shelters accept pets. Have carriers easily accessible.

Air pollution: During poor air quality days, keep pets indoors. Limit exercise.

Water contamination: Harmful algal blooms can be deadly. Research water quality before letting pets swim, especially during warm spells.

Disease spread: Maintain year-round prevention for parasites and vector-borne diseases. Check pets for ticks after outdoor activities.
