The military is the world’s largest institutional emitter of greenhouse gas. The US military is by far the largest in the world, and this figure is unlikely to have decreased. 5.5% of worldwide CO2 emissions are attributable to the military of all nations. This doesn’t include wartime emissions. It can therefore be assumed that the percentage of global CO2 emissions caused by the military is significantly higher.
