HUNGER STRIKE

Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection Southeast Regional Office in Lakeville

A four hour meeting is scheduled with FRRACS for Friday again in Lakeville with Nathan Phillips attending. It’s his 9th day of a hunger strike. Calls to Governor Baker and DEP Commissioner Suuberg will help. For information see NOT JUST A LOCAL ISSUE post. So far a monitor has been promised to check for toxins in Weymouth’s air. What else will be done remains to be seen.

  1. BU Prof. Nathan Phillips’ hunger strike protest includes a demand to correct dangerous construction prep conditions at the Weymouth Compressor Station site. Soil is being removed by dump trucks which are supposed to be cleaned before they drive off the site. Why? The soil contains arsenic and other waste at the site may contain asbestos. Yet the trucks drive away uncleaned and as a result drop contaminated material on public streets.
