Switzerland’s glacial melting was again enormous in 2025. A winter with low snow depth combined with June and August heatwaves led to a three percent loss of the glacier volume. It’s the fourth largest shrinkage level since records began. This contributes to destabilizing of mountains which can lead to an avalanche of rocks and ice.
