Flooding has caused hundreds of billions in damage in the U.S. over the past three decades. 36% of our costs of flooding from 1988 to 2017 resulted from intensifying precipitation, consistent with predictions of global warming. The global insurance company Munich Re calls flooding “the number-one natural peril in the U.S.”
