ENBRIDGE PERSECUTING PROTESTORS
The Canadian-based oil company reimburses police for violent crackdowns on unarmed water protectors. They’ve billed over $1.7 million to the Public Safety Escrow Trust, in which Enbridge dumps millions of dollars to incentivize and encourage police officers to repress, suppress, surveil, and harass Indigenous people and allies trying to stop the Line 3 tar sands pipeline from extracting the dirtiest fossil fuel. They have used tear gas, rubber and pepper bullets and denied medical care for protestor injuries, denied proper food and reportedly held some in solitary confinement.
