In 2024 the approximately 14 million cases of dengue fever set a global record, more than 7 million the previous year. Many cases aren’t reported with the true number estimated at between 100 million and 400 million annually. Higher temperatures from climate change contributed to an average of 18% of cases across 21 countries. Cases are likely to climb between 49% and 76% over the next 35 years depending on how much heat rapping pollution we add to the atmosphere.
