Making ammonia fertilizer is energy and carbon-intensive. A new low-cost solar-driven method recycles ammonia in farm and industrial runoff–otherwise becoming pollution. A solar still, a container with a clear plastic or glass top, purifies the water, and uses a process that ultimately results in ammonia and clean water. We wind up with a clean, lower cost fertilizer for farmers.
