DELAYING CONSTRUCTION OF PIPELINES

FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) has issued a new final rule saying that an approved natural gas project can’t proceed with construction until the commission acts on all requests for rehearing. It’s likely to delay construction of natural gas pipelines and increase costs for project owners. But the U.S. Administration recently issued a final rule benefiting oil and gas companies by narrowing the scope of review for proposed pipelines that states should consider under a section of the Clean Water Act for energy infrastructure. It remains to be seen how this will play out. Hopefully in our favor.
