CO2 AND OCEAN ACIDITY

CO2 and ocean acidity are tightly coupled. The more CO2is released into the atmosphere, the more seawater absorbs, making the ocean progressively more acidic.  And oceanic upwelling systems actually amplify ocean acidification. Upwelling systems support much of the world’s fisheries so how they respond to rising CO2 carries major implications for fisheries and their potential vulnerabilities.
