OCEAN BANDS HEATING

Ocean heating upsets marine ecosystems, increases atmospheric levels of water vapor, a powerful greenhouse gas, fuels rain-storms and extreme weather. The world’s oceans are heating faster in two bands stretching around the globe. Rapid ocean heating in distinct bands could affect water density, temperature, and salinity, ultimately impacting the ocean conveyor belt and lead to changes in regional climates and potentially disrupt ecosystems that rely on these currents.
