New molecules have been synthesized to quickly capture significant amounts of carbon dioxide from the air. Focus was on titanium peroxides. Titanium is as strong as steel but much lighter, non-toxic, doesn’t easily corrode and is the ninth most abundant element in the Earth’s crust – found in rocks, soil, plants and even the human body in trace amounts.
