ELEVATING THERMOELECTRIC MATERIALS

Thermoelectric materials could play an important role in the clean energy transition, producing electricity from sources of heat otherwise going to waste. A new approach efficiently predicts when thermoelectric materials will have improved performance in converting heat into electricity without generating additional greenhouse gases or requiring large up-front investment. Researchers reported a heat-to-electricity conversion efficiency exceeding 10% at a temperature difference of about 855 degrees Fahrenheit.
