An organic photovoltaic film has been developed that is both waterproof and flexible, allowing a solar cell to be put onto clothes and still function correctly after being rained on or even washed. Wearable electronics could potentially monitor medical devices, for example, without requiring battery changes. The device created is just 3 micrometers thick. More work needs to be done, but this sounds promising.
