The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has issued a notice of proposed rulemaking that details proposed interconnection reforms it wants to adopt to clear interconnection backlogs and speed clean energy deployment. They include: Firm deadlines for utilities conducting interconnection studies; New interconnection study processes simultaneously studying the impact of a number of projects trying to connect to the grid; Studies based on actual operating conditions for renewable energy generators; and Transparent and standard affected systems study processes. With luck this will mean more solar power, among other things.
