MANAGING DISCARDED MASKS

It’s estimated that 1.56 million facemasks entered the oceans in 2020. Around 75% of the ones used during the Pandemic will probably end up in landfills or the ocean. There’s a new way to turn disposable mask waste into low-cost and flexible batteries able to store as much energy as lithium-ion batteries. And Australian researchers have shown that shredded single-use masks could be repurposed to make strong road materials. Fortunately there’s one mask that uses far less material than others. Tested in a biosafety level 2+ lab, it actually kills the virus. Check aclaramask.com
