Photo: Exceptional Western drought 2021
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. If so, check out this NY Times article. Extreme drought conditions in the American West are more widespread than at any point in at least 20 years, and the worst drying heat is yet to come. Across the region, reservoir levels are near record lows and mountain snowpack, relied on for water replenishment, is largely depleted. Large swaths of the West saw record-low precipitation over the past year, combined with significantly higher-than-usual temperatures.
